Joanna Kata is a Polish-born artist who has lived in London since completing her studies at the Higher School of Art and Design. She began her journey with photography after falling in love with an old SLR ZENIT camera and the magic of working in a darkroom. During her studies, she developed a strong interest in photo manipulation, making the transition to digital processes a natural evolution. Recognised for her exceptional eye in the photo-editing process, she mastered the art of high-end retouching and has worked in post-production for over two decades.

In recent years, her practice has gradually shifted towards personal work. She now focuses on contemporary fine-art photography, digital manipulation, and mixed-media, combining architectural minimalism, abstraction, surreal visions, and conceptual explorations of form. Her work often becomes a dialogue between feminine and masculine energies, reality and abstraction, revolving around form, balance, and perception. Through carefully constructed compositions, Joanna reveals a subtle tension between human fragility and structural order.
